Royal Arch Golf Day 2025

The annual Royal Arch Golf Match between Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire Royal Arch and Warwickshire Royal Arch took place his year at Hellidon Lakes Golf Resort near Daventry for the Peter Kitson Trophy. 32 golfers took part, 14 from Northants & Hunts Royal Arch, 14 from Warwickshire Royal Arch, 3 Craft Masons & 1 non Masonic guest who made up the pairings at short notice. The Golfers assembled in the Hotel restaurant prior to the match for bacon rolls and coffee.

The weather was fine but very hot and the course was dry and very tricky, the greens were in good condition.

The Format for the day was a Pairs Modified Texas Scramble Stableford with the best 6 Royal Arch scores from each team counting towards the peter Kitson Trophy, it was a very close result up to the last cards being handed in with one point between the teams, but the final score of 218 for Warwickshire to 203 for Northants & Hunts secured the trophy for Warwickshire for the seventh consecutive year, the handicap difference of 23 strokes in favour of warwickshire proving just too much for Northants and Hunts. Top scorers for Warwickshire were E Comp Rob Almond & E Comp Cliff Bull 39 points and E Comp Paul Hayward & E Com Pete Ayris 29 Points, top scorers for Northants & Hunts Comp Richard Mudge & E Comp Mark Constant 38 points and E Comp Alex Thompson & E Comp Barry Howard 38 points

Nearest the pin prizes went to E Comp David Burton on the 9th, Comp Alex Robertson on the 10th, E Comp David Burton on the 13th and Comp Alex Robertson on the 18th, best pair W Bro Paul Phillips & Mr Phil Horne 40 points.

After the match the golfers enjoyed a well deserved drink followed by a meal in the hotel restaurant. Following the meal the Northants and Hunts captain E Comp Ray Lewis welcomed the Warwickshire team and thanked the Northants and Hunts Executive for their participation and support, he then handed over to E Comp Gerry Logue the Warwickshire Captain who responded and announced the winners of prizes, The Most Excellent Grand Superintendent E Comp Mark Constant presented the prizes to the winners and The Peter Kitson Trophy to E Comp Gerry Logue congratulating the Warwickshire team on winning it for the Seventh Consecutive year, but that Northants and Hunts will be striving to win it back next year.

Next years match will be hosted by Warwickshire at Coventry Hearsall Golf Club on Thursday 18th June 2026.
