The Danetre Lodge No. 8594 was honoured by the presence of WBro. Dale Gilbert APGM to their meeting on Monday 7th April .
This was not a scheduled official visit and the presence of the APGM who arrived without an escort came as a great surprise to some of the Danetre Brethren and most especially to W.Bro. Richard (Dick) Godwin) PJGD and WBro Richard Page PProv JGW. Both of these Brothers were celebrating 50 years of Freemasonry
WBro. Richard Page was the very first Initiate into Danetre Lodge on April 7th 1975 which had only itself been consecrated on November 4th 1974. He was Raised on February 2nd 1976 and Exalted into the Royal Arch on April 3rd 1991.
By profession Richard was and still is a Farmer.
He served as Worshipful Master of Danetre from 1985-86 and in the course of his long Masonic career acted as either Director of Ceremonies or Assistant Director of Ceremonies for a total of nineteen years. Richard received his first Provincial appointment as PProvGStdB in 1991 and now holds the rank of PProvJGW.
W.Bro. Dick Godwin was Initiated into Christopher Lodge No. 2309 in the Province of Buckinghamshire on March 10th 1975. He was Raised on March 8th 1976 and Exalted into the Royal Arch on June 4th 1977.
By profession Dick was a police officer having joined the police cadets in January 1964 at the age of 17 before joining the Metropolitan police in 1966 and retiring as an Inspector.
He moved to Daventry and joined Danetre Lodge in 2002 serving as its Worshipful Master in 2007, 2016 and 2023. Dick first received Grand Rank in 1996 as PAGDC and was promoted to PJGD in 2018. He was Senior Group Officer for the S.W. from 2017-2023. In the Holy Royal Arch he has been Scribe E in Beneventa Chapter since 2022 and is a holder of the MEGS Certificate of Merit.
Both of these Brothers have and continue to make a great contribution to Danetre Lodge and we look forward to that continuing for many years to come.
