Waynflete Lodge Centenary Meeting

The Centenary meeting of Waynflete Lodge No. 4452 held on Wednesday the 19th of October 2022, at The Town Hall, Brackley, as expected, proved to be a wonderful occasion.

The Provincial Grand Master, RWBro Mark Constant, together with the Deputy Provincial Grand Master, WBro Charles Bennett, and Assistant Provincial Grand Master, WBro Mike Caseman-Jones, and many active Provincial officers entered the Lodge to a warm reception.

The Provincial Grand Master subsequently took the Chair and led a wonderfully fraternal and heartfelt Centenary celebration-ceremony during which he was most pleased to present the Lodge with their Centenary Warrant. On handing this to the WM he also informed the Brethren that they could now wear their Centenary Jewel.

The Provincial Grand Master also congratulated the lodge, not on being consecrated 100 years ago, but on keeping the lodge going over that period, which was a remarkable feat considering everything that has happened in that time.

The Provincial Grand Chaplain, WBro. Aaron Day, provided a oration reminding us of events that have occurred during the 100 years since the consecration of the lodge including:

  • 5 Monarchs
  • 12 PGM's
  • 21 Prime Ministers (22 now)
  • 72 further lodges consecrated in the Province
  • 6 Grand Masters with the Duke of Kent being one for 55 years of those 100 years.

The Brethren were then treated to a brief history of the lodge by WBro Michael Genner, Past Provincial Grand Registrar. Unfortunately, there were no official minutes from the Lodge’s consecration but the Brethren were informed that the Lodge’s name came from William Waynflete the once Lord Chancellor and the lodge was founded by Brethren who would have previously had to travel to Buckingham, Warwickshire, Northampton and London for their Freemasonry.

The meeting was very well supported by both the lodge and the large number of visitors, most of whom also attended the wonderful festive board.

The Master and Brethren of Waynflete Lodge are most grateful for the support received from the PGM and his Provincial team, which helped make the event such a wonderful success.

We congratulate Waynflete Lodge on their achievement and wish them many happy years to come.
