Members of the Peterborough Special Olympics Swimming Group (PSOSG) were thrilled to receive a donation of £680 from the brethren of Chicheley Lodge No. 607, which is based at Thrapston.
The donation, which was organised by Chicheley Lodge’s charity steward, WBro David Redden, was formally presented by Bro Owen Jervis.
The benefaction, which incorporates a contribution from the Provincial Grand Charity, will help pay for pool-hire and coaching costs. It will also help fund athletes selected for the GB National Special Olympic Summer Games, which has been postponed until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Not only do the activities of PSOSG promote swimming as a sport, their weekly training sessions build friendships and foster the development of life-skills.
Quoting from PSOSG’s website:
We hope that once we are back in the pool, the team can meet with some of the brethren of Chicheley Lodge for a proper formal handover of a giant cheque and take lots of photos. This donation means a huge amount to our little club, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
