A beautiful sunny day at Browns Farm Fishery near Great Addington was perfect for a day of fishing.
Twenty children from Kettering’s Wren Spinney School and the Corby Business Academy, all with special needs, enjoyed a one-to-one fishing experience with their dedicated casting partners from the Northants and Hunts Masonic Trout & Salmon Fishing Charity (MTSFC). With several reports of “40 plus” carp per angler, there was no shortage of fish or smiles on the day.
Afterwards, the volunteers prepared a fabulous BBQ lunch and drinks for all, which was well received.
Following lunch, The Provincial Grand Master RWBro Mark Constant, who along with other grand and group officers have been constant supporters of the MTSFC and Freemasonry in the community, presented certificates and medals to all the Children. Each of them was given an individual best-in-category title, such as biggest fish, loudest fisherman and biggest smile amongst others. Photographs followed and the children left very happy having had a wonderful experience and a fun day.
Hats off to the volunteers who put a great deal of time and effort into organising these events. Northants & Hunts Chairman Bro David Linger said “we simply could not hold these types of events without the support of our amazing volunteers” MTSFC have branches across the UK, anybody interested in becoming a volunteer can contact David on
