On Friday 21st October 2022, Peterborough Sea Cadets had a very nice surprise from Peterborough Freemasons. As the Cadets receive no grants but rely solely on donations, members of Medeshamstede Lodge, raised the sum of £500 to help towards their funding.

The Sea Cadets aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities, trips and adventures, the Cadets learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, honesty and how to be the best version of themselves.
Commanding Officer for the Sea Cadets, Petty Officer Matthew Millington, was happy to accept the cheque, which was presented by a Past Master of the Lodge, W.Bro Layton Mills, together with the secretary, W.Bro Mark Bennett Tighe.
Matthew commented:
We must thank the Peterborough Freemasons for this kind donation. We will be using some of the money on kit, but also some of it will go to supporting those of the cadets who couldn’t normally afford to go on our up-and-coming trips to visit the Battlefields from World Wars One and Two in Belgium and France.
