The Souster Youth is on a mission to transform the social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of young people. They work with those aged 11-19 years in the North Northamptonshire area. facing a host of challenges including mental health, family and relationships, and academic achievement. If not addressed effectively these can lead to poor outcomes in later life including criminal behaviour, poverty and increased mental health needs. They work with young people in schools and community organisations to bring clear thinking and innovative approaches to these issues.
The Worshipful Master W Bro Chris Gauntlett is seen here presenting a cheque for £600.00 on behalf of Chicheley Lodge 607 and the Provincial Grand Charity to Liz Holland, Action Manager from Oundle Volunteer Action which is a local charity whose mission statement is “Volunteering to help local people in need”. The Charity was founded in 1995 and has gone from strength to strength since Its aim is to meet the needs of local people, specifically older residents and those with disabilities or additional needs who find it more difficult to get out and about. This is particularly pertinent in our rural location of North Northamptonshire, where public transport is extremely limited and access to taxis can prove to be very expensive.
The Provincial Grand Charity very generously match funded Chicheley Lodge; to support their donation to Headway East Northants. The Worshipful Master is seen below with clients from Headway receiving the cheque for £750.00. Headway East Northants is a locally registered charitable organization, based in Irthlingborough, North Northamptonshire and the Province of Northamptonshire, for over 18’s. They provide support and services to survivors of brain injury and also their family members and carers. Their service reflects their clients. They are a person-centered service who understand the complexities of “the hidden disability” and the problems that may arise with cognition, memory, communication and concentration.
The Chairman, Richard Massey, and Manager Jo Burns of East Northants Community Service (Raunds Food Bank) are pictured below, with the Worshipful Master receiving a cheque on behalf of Chicheley Lodge 607 and the Provincial Grand Charity for £510.00. East Northamptonshire Community Service is a small registered charity with an excellent track record of supporting homeless people and those suffering from addictions in the Unitary Authority of North Northamptonshire, particularly in the former East Northamptonshire District. They achieve this through the provision of night shelters, a residential drug and alcohol abuse rehabilitation programme and assistance in finding permanent accommodation and jobs. In addition, East Northamptonshire Community Services (ENCS) operates 3 food banks including Raunds which is the closest to the Lodge and a drop-in community café.
Their mission is to enable homeless and disadvantaged people to live independent and fulfilled lives – not just to provide a bed or a food parcel. Their approach is to accompany beneficiaries on their journey, providing supportive relationships where they can feel safe, be inspired, and rebuild their self-confidence and life.
