Samuel Pepys Lodge Donation to Hinchingbrooke Hospital

On Monday the 22nd October 2018, WBro Peter Fotheringham, WBro Roger Haynes and WBro Rob Taylor of Samuel Pepys Lodge No. 8330 visited Hinchingbrooke Hospital and presented a cheque for £8,100 to Sam Clayton-Roberts, Sister of the Critical Care Unit (CCU), so as to enable purchase of an AquaVENT machine.

WBro Peter Fotheringham and WBro Roger Haynes presenting the cheque to Sister Sam Clayton-Roberts and other members of her staff.

AquaVENT heated breathing systems combine technological advances in thermal conductivity and breathing circuit construction to deliver optimal and controlled humidification. The machines assist seriously ill patients to breathe without causing damage to their respiratory systems.

The funds were raised as a result of a number of excellent events held during WBro Mo Moussi's year as Worshipful Master. These included a very successful ladies evening.

Unfortunately, WBro Moussi was unable to attend the presentation due to other commitments.

During their visit, the brethren were given a tour of the facilities, met members of staff, and were shown an AquaVENT machine already in use.

Not only did the visit allow the brethren to find-out more about the CCU, it enabled the nursing staff to discover more about Freemasonry. All in all, it was a most interesting and enlightening get together.

We thank the staff at the Critical Care Unit for all the fantastic work they do, wish them the very best for the future, and hope the new AquaVENT machine will provide many years of service.
