A combination of enthusiasm for road cycling and a touch of competitiveness led to Bro Adrian Cadd from the Lodge of Harmony No 9048 in Northampton cycling from London to Paris to raise money for Action Medical Research. He rode 320 miles in four days in July.
150 cyclists set off early from Blackheath to arrive in Dover for the 4pm ferry, a total of 85 miles in the first day. Across the channel in Northern France the route took in various World War I memorial sites including the cemetery at Ecoivres and the beautiful Somme valley, before reaching Compiegne.
Arriving in Paris, they met other cyclists at the Parc de Monceau before completing the journey by cycling past the Place d'Etoile, Arc de Triomphe, the Champs Elysees and ending at the Eiffel Tower.
To date Adrian has raised £3,500 for Action Medical Research which funds research exploring the genetic causes of diseases and disabilities.
