PGM Impressed by New Lifelites Computer Equipment

EACH (East Anglia Children’s Hospice) has received a boost in the form of state of the art computer equipment for children with life-threatening conditions.  The equipment has been supplied by Lifelites, largely funded by the Masonic Provinces of Northamptonshire and Huntingdonshire and Cambridgeshire.  Similar equipment was recently supplied to Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough.

On Thursday 4 September 2014 a group of Trustees of the Provincial Grand Charity visited EACH at its hospice in Milton, Cambridge, where the new equipment was demonstrated.  This included a new Eyegaze computer eye tracking system (operated solely by movement of the user’s eyes) and Magic Carpet (projects onto the floor a scene or picture with which even the most handicapped of users can interact).

Trustees took delight in trying the equipment for themselves.  This delight, however, was not so great as that of some of the resident children as they tried out their new kit.

Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro Max Bayes said

This is marvellous equipment and its good to see it in action.  Its even better to see the look on the children’s faces as they interact with it.  It makes the efforts and generosity of all who have contributed very well worth while.  Members of the Province can thus be assured that funds raised for Lifelites are being put to very good use.

Anyone wishing to see and try the equipment can do so at the AGM of the Provincial Grand Charity on 14 March 2015 when Lifelites will have it available.
