New Patio is a BBQ Success

The new patio area at Sheaf Close was in use recently for a Lodge Birthday BBQ. The Lodge of St George No 5978 celebrated 70 years, having been granted its warrant on 7 June 1944 - the day after the D-Day Landings.

The Lodge held a great BBQ.  Despite warnings of terrible weather the sun prevailed and members and guests spent a wonderful afternoon in the sun. There was a bouncy castle for the children and plenty of fun for all, with the highlight being the drenching of the Master in the stocks.

WBro Andy Moore braved the sponges and ice water and entertained the crowd by allowing children (and adults) to throw icy sponges at him while in the stocks. Needless to say this was followed up by Lodge members thoroughly drenching the Master with buckets of ice water, all taken in very good humour.

This along with a pub quiz, games and a race sweepstake has raised in excess of £500 to go towards the building fund.
