Headway East Northants is a small independent charity providing support and services to individuals, family members and carers affected by brain injury. It has an Activity Centre in Irthlingborough, in the heart of East Northants, helping people withproblems involving cognition, memory, communication and behaviour.
Because of support received during 2013, Headway East Northants has been able to transform the Activity Centre from a tired and worn environment to a clean and fresh one. The charity can now help people in their own homes as well as in the Centre.
With plans in place for further improvements in 2014, the Charity was delighted to be contacted by W Bro Neil Arrowsmith of Heigham Lodge 8486 which meets at nearby Rushden. During Neil’s year as Worshipful Master he and his wife Catherine decided to raise funds for Headway East Northants because of their connections with people with brain injuries.
W Bro Neil said
We wanted to support a deserving local charity whose aims are close to our hearts. We raised £3,000 to which our Provincial Grand Charity very generously added £2,000, bringing the total to £5,000.
On 13 December 2013 Neil and Catherine presented the charity with the £5,000 cheque.
Dawn, Services Manager at Headway East Northants said
It is only with the kindness of our supporters that we are able to continue to provide a quality service for our clients as well as make enhancements to that service. We cannot thank Neil and the members of the Heigham Lodge enough for this kind and very generous donation. We can now start planning for 2014.
