There are few people who are not affected by prostate cancer, whether it is themselves, their family members or friends who contract the disease. It is truly a silent, and very nasty, killer, being difficult to detect, as well as being under-researched compared to other cancers.
Like most lodges, Risdene Lodge No 6532 has had its share of prostate cancer problems, and indeed recently lost its Mentor, W Bro Tom Thorpe to it. It was therefore not surprising that when four brethren decided to join the Movember movement and grow facial hair for five weeks, support was eagerly pledged. Just over £1,150 was raised, which with Gift Aid, will provide almost £1,500 for further research.
