Risdene Widow Celebrates 100th Birthday

100th birthdays are not all that unusual these days.  However, what is remarkable about Mrs May Harris, widow of the late W Bro Ted Harris PPJGW, a former member of both Risdene and Old Kimboltonian Lodges, who celebrated her’s on Tuesday 22 October, is that she lives by herself in a beautifully kept bungalow and is in excellent physical and mental health.

Indeed, when visited on her birthday by three brethren of Risdene Lodge, W Bros Geoff Smith (WM), Peter Childs (Almoner) and Bob Dennis (JW), she amazed them with her instant recall of people and events from both the near and distant past.

WBro Geoff Smith, WM of Risdene Lodge, presents a bouquet of flowers to Mrs Harris, who is holding her card from the Queen - also in the picture is WBro Peter Childs, AlmonerShe was, of course, delighted to have received her congratulatory card from Her Majesty the Queen, and was also pleased to receive a bunch of flowers from the brethren.

As they departed, she said her next intended celebration would be on reaching 105!
