Risdene's Meeting with a Difference

On 18 April 2012 Risdene Lodge No 6532 had a Masonic evening with a difference. First, on the proposition of RWBro Barrie Hall PProvGM, two stalwarts of the lodge, WBro George Osborne PSGD and WBro John Humphrey PJGD were elected as Honorary Members. They have both served the Lodge for over 40 years but are no longer in the best of health.

This was followed by a demonstration of part of the First Degree Lecture worked by the WM, WBro Eric Place and seven junior Brethren. The work was carried out with great precision, a credit to them all and, of course, the DC, WBro Dale Gilbert.

Wentworth's six canoeists (front) with, behind them, WBro Michael Richards, VWBro Darrel Cauch, RWBro Barrie Hall PProvGM WBro Eric Place (WM) WBro Steve Squires (Secretary) WBro Dale Gilbert (DC) Bro Richard Tudor (JW) and Bro Ken Brookes (SW)

Present to watch it all was a good number of visitors, including six members of Wentworth Lodge breaking off from their canoe trip from Northampton to Peterborough. In spite of the inclement weather and coming directly from their campsite, they were immaculately turned out, and were rewarded with an excellent collection at the Festive Board.

Also present was VWBro Darrel Cauch, Grand Lecturer of the Grand Lodge of Nevada, USA, who expressed his delight to be visiting Lodges in England and to be present for such an august occasion.
