On Saturday 9 April at St John's Home in Northampton WBro Alan Wools, IPM of Kingsley Lodge No 2431, presented a cheque for £1,143.50 to the Friends of the Residents of St John's Home Charity.
In receiving the cheque the Charity Chairman, Len Sexton, said it was very welcome and would be used to continue to provide entertainment and activities in 2011. Charity funds had been stretched by some very large expenditure items in 2010.
The occasion was further marked by WBro Steven Brown and WBro Tony Potter and their troupe of Musical Memories that entertained the residents with a singsong - the residents taking part with gusto.
WBro Bill Purcell, a trustee of the Charity, led the residents in a vote of thanks to Kingsley Lodge and Freemasonry in general for their continued support. For the last 25 years St John's Home has had at least one Mason or Masonic widow in residence.
