Provincial Cricketers Score Historic Victory

Less than a month after being installed our new PGM, RW Bro Max Bayes oversaw an impressive addition of sporting silverware to the Provincial sporting trophy cabinet.

On Sunday 21 August the Provincial cricket team travelled to Rickmansworth to take on the Metropolitan Grand Lodge for the annual cricket match for the Andrew Henderson Memorial Trophy. Supporters also included the Deputy PGM, both Assistant PGMs, and the Provincial Grand Secretary and their ladies.

Having been asked to bat first the Province ably led by Mike Caseman-Jones amassed 201 off 30 overs. Scoring 40 runs, Jeremy Thomas was man of the match for the second year running. He was well supported by Mark Rawson (36) and Brian Gargett (38).

The Metropolitan Grand Lodge team lost early wickets and with all the catches being held they were dismissed for 74. A notable win for the Province by 127 runs.

In the four annual matches between these two teams, this is the first time that the Province has triumphed. This, together with the excellent weather and company, made it an excellent day for the Province. It is our turn to host the fixture next year.
