On a sunny but showery August Saturday, Pemberton Lodge No 3029 held its inaugural Clay Shoot at Pastures Lodge Farm, Stanwick, at the kind invitation of WBro Len Willmott.
The event was organised by the current WM, WBro Brian Hornigold and his team . A total of 55 masons, wives and friends attended with 31 actually competing. The event was a 25 bird sporting shoot with classes for experienced shooters and novices alike. There was also a barbecue and refreshments, organised by WBro John Walsh and his wife Sylvia.
The main competition winner was Peter Gant, runner up Edgar Davis. The best junior shot was Albert Bareham Junior, following in the shooting footsteps of his father (currently WM of Hinchingbrooke Lodge).
The prize for Best Novice was won by WBro Richard Bedells with WBro Brian Dodd runner-up. Both are members of Pemberton Lodge.
Due to the generosity of those attending, the shoot raised £609 for the Rushden Masonic Hall Company Building Fund. It is hoped that this will become an annual event and the next is planned for May 2011.
