Masonic Trout & Salmon Fishing Charity Casts Its Net

The Masonic Trout & Salmon Fishing Charity (MTSFC - not to be confused with the Provincial Fly Fishing Association) is a registered charity. It aims to bring an interactive fishing and countryside experience to people of any age with Special Needs. Fishing events are held up and down the country and participants from Special Needs Schools, Adult Day Centres and similar places are invited to attend. They are introduced to fishing by experienced fishing guides and helpers. Lunch is provided for them and their carers or teachers.

The Charity has its own Lodge, the Lodge of Opportunity No 9777. Although based in Hertfordshire, it has a roving commission to meet elsewhere to advance its aims. In our Province the Charity has an active branch headed by the Chairman, WBro John MacKenzie, PM of Rockingham Forest Lodge No 9491.

PGM, RWBro Barrie Hall celebrates a fisherman's big catch

John and his team hosted a fishing day for children with special needs at Ringstead Grange, near Raunds, on 6 October 2010. On a beautiful sunny day, the many children enjoyed both a wonderful day's fishing and a splendid picnic lunch. Brethren came from several other Provinces to join our own, enabling one-to-one teaching of the necessary skills.

Present also were the Charity's President, RWBro Gordon Bourne PProProvGM (Middx) and our own PGM, RWBro Barrie Hall, who described the Charity as Masonry in the community at its very best

Although like any charity it needs donations to survive, it desperately needs Brethren with whatever level of fishing experience to volunteer their time. They are guarenteed to derive just as much enjoyment as those they teach. Anyone interested should This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
