Cash for Niamh Curry Appeal Rolls In

Thousands of pounds continue to be raised in the memory of a little girl whose story touched the hearts of many people. In May, five years old Niamh Curry, from Wellingborough, sadly lost her battle with the rare cancer, neuroblastoma.

Her parents, Chris and Sam Curry, launched the Niamh's Next Step campaign in January 2012 to try to raise £450,000 to take Niamh for specialist treatment in America. They have vowed to continue the appeal in order to fight the disease in Niamh's memory. More than £190,000 has now been raised.

The fund was recently boosted by a £10,000 donation from Wellingborough Masons, Wellingborough Bowling Club and the Wellingborough-based music group Bonkers Band.

The money was handed to Sam Curry who accepted it on behalf of the Neuroblastoma Alliance as Niamh's Next Step is in the process of applying for charitable status.

He said: "The £10,000 donation was fantastic. Everything we do now is in Niamh's memory – we can't fight it for Niamh but we can fight it in her memory.

Contributions were made towards the total by Wellingborough Lodges with a further £2,500 donated by the Provincial Grand Charity.
